Welcome to Three Tree Fibers.
Why Three Tree?
I am a mom of three kids. My one wish for them is to grow steadfast, with deep roots, branches that stretch across the sky, soaking the rays of the sun, providing shade to the needy, and fruit to the hungry.
I am not this cheesy usually.
Maybe I am, when I talk about my kids. :)
The fiber story.
It all began with cloth diapers. People were buying wool covers, but I also shrank my husband's wool vest about the same time so I had no interest in acquiring them myself . I found out people were paying big bucks for handspun yarn to knit these up. I made a trip to the local yarn store in colorado. I was highly intrigued. With some searches on the internet I learned about CD spindles, one of the cheapest way to get in to the habit.
We moved to North Carolina soon after that, thanks to my husband who was in the Army. I visited sunflower fibers (which apparently has been closed now. :( ) where I bought a spindle, some fiber and Pam lent me Abby Fraquemont's "Respect the Spindle". Haven't looked back since! Just a short nine months after our arrival, he got orders to Fairbanks, Alaska where I learned how to spin on a wheel with Susan Martin of "A Weaver's Yarn". I bought an Ashford Joy soon after that while I was in Los Angeles, where I was lucky to learn from master spinner Gwen Powell in Torrance. I have also now taken a dye class with Natalie Redding of Namaste Farms.
So my fiber journey has been all over the United States!
